RNLI College Hotel Hotel in Poole
For a truly unique coastal break, look no further than the RNLI College. Originally built exclusively as the national training centre for the brave volunteer lifeboat crews of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, this stunning, modern facility has now opened its doors to the public as a fully functioning hotel.
The college features 60 spacious, modern en-suite bedrooms. Because the building is curved around the waterfront of Holes Bay, many of the rooms offer fantastic, peaceful views over the water and the private RNLI marina. The rooms are clean, functional, and equipped with flat-screen TVs, tea and coffee-making facilities, and free WiFi.

The hotel is situated directly on the water’s edge of Holes Bay, a large tidal inlet of Poole Harbour. The Slipway Bar features a fantastic outdoor waterfront terrace. It is the perfect place to enjoy a morning coffee while watching the all-weather lifeboats moored in the marina, or simply watching the local wading birds on the mudflats when the tide goes out.
The RNLI College offers free, secure on-site parking for all guests. The car park is located immediately adjacent to the main building and is secured with a barrier system. You will simply need to validate your parking ticket at the main reception desk when you check in.
Located just off the main Holes Bay road, the RNLI College is brilliantly positioned for exploring Poole without getting stuck in the peninsula traffic. A flat, 10-minute walk along the waterfront pathway will take you straight into the heart of Poole Quay. Here, you can explore the historic custom houses, visit the Poole Museum, or book a boat cruise out around Brownsea Island.
You are also just a 5-minute walk from the main Poole train station and the Dolphin Shopping Centre. If you want to hit the beach, the golden sands of Sandbanks are a straightforward 15-to-20-minute drive away, making this a fantastic, budget-friendly, and highly ethical alternative to the expensive beachfront resorts.
